This division encompasses many different areas, all of which are instrumental in supporting our various product lines:


  • Mail & Faxes
    This support function provides for the sorting and delivery of the incoming mail as well as faxed materials. Their goal is to deliver all faxes within one hour of receipt. This high commitment to service allows the underwriters to provide responsiveness to inquiries and a quick quote turnaround to our producers.
  • Manual & Form Distribution
    Within this division falls the responsibility of overseeing the distribution of the underwriting manuals, revisions and policy forms from a central source. This is quite a logistical challenge, considering we have over 1300 manual holders. With the nature of the binding authority contacts it is imperative that new manuals and updates are distributed quickly and correctly.
  • Receptionists & Message Centers
    In many cases, the Essex associates who man our receptionist phones are people's first impression of Essex. We receive a high volume of calls from many different sources, and it is imperative that we handle these calls quickly and efficiently.
  • Policy File Set Up
    Issued policies are brought to this department for immediate set-up and delivery to underwriting. Timeliness is critical in the event of question or claims on a new policy, not to mention the booking of premium.
  • Word Processing
    This department handles more than dictation. They are the folks who maintain our forms and manuals on diskettes, make changes or revisions as necessary, and work with underwriting to edit the materials. They also handle the majority of correspondence to producers, insureds and attorneys.
  • File Department
    This department handles almost 50,000 new and renewal policies per year in 3 separate file rooms. By using our bar coding system, they scan the entire office once a week to ensure that our policies are found and handled quickly.
