The Essex Property department covers a wide spectrum of E&S commercial property exposures, usually on a primary basis. The largest single segment of business is coverage for vacant commercial and residential exposures. In addition to vacant property, other target segments include renovations, builders risk, restaurants and bars, office buildings, retail establishments, apartments, manufacturing, and hotels. There are very few segments of business that the property department will not consider. Coverage is written using a combination of ISO coverage forms excluding flood and earthquake, and Essex specific forms where required. Limits to $5 million are available with additional facultative support available. A large portion of our business is done under binding authority granted to specific Essex appointed managing general agents.  This approach promotes superior service, 24 hour turn around time, and local underwriting knowledge.  We also have highly technical underwriters on staff to assist our MGA's with the larger and/or more unusual accounts.  The Essex Property and Casualty Departments work hand in hand to provide package policy approaches to a variety of risks and have experienced significant growth in this area.
